About Lighthouse Hazlemere

What is Lighthouse?

A Christian holiday club which gets the summer holidays off to a great start.  Lighthouse began in Great Missenden and Prestwood in 1987. There are now 15 Lighthouses - Beaconsfield, Burnham, Cressex, Great Missenden, Haddenham, High Wycombe, Langley, Loudwater, Mansfield, Marlow, Princes Risborough, Safe Harbour (was Bourne End),  Shelswell, Water Eaton (was Bletchley South) and of course, Hazlemere!

What goes on at Lighthouse?

At the start and finish of the day everyone is together for worship, teaching, drama, competitions, etc. In between children have a programme of games, performing arts and craft, plus sessions to explore the day's theme. The 10s and 11s age group have a choice of workshops.

Where and when?

The planned dates in 2024 are Monday 5th to Friday 9th August. It is held in Hazlemere Cof E Combined School, 262 Amersham Rd, Hazlemere, High Wycombe HP15 7PZ and at Holy Trinity Church.

What are the timings?

5-11's: Registration opens at 9.00 am each day, and your child should arrive between 9.00 and 9.15 am to ensure they are checked in before the day's activities start at 9.15 am. The Lighthouse day ends at 2.40pm and we ask that you arrive shortly before that time, ready to collect.

Morning drop off will be at the main entrance of Holy Trinity Church, Amersham Road. Collection will be from classrooms at Hazlemere Church of England School.

There is NO Little Lighthouse for Parents & Toddlers in 2023

Who is in charge of the children?

Lighthouse is run by volunteers.  Children are in year-groups, which are broken down into smaller Lighthouse groups. Each Lighthouse has a Lighthouse Keeper (leader) and Lamplighters (assistants). Specialist teams help with craft, performing arts and games. We take up references for all helpers and police check adults.

Groups

Year groups are based on a child's age on 31 August. If you ask in advance, it may be possible for a child to join a younger age group to be with a friend or sibling. Friends arriving together on day 1 have the best chance of being in the same Lighthouse.

Children with special needs

We welcome applications for children with special needs. We have a special facility “The Space” for children who find it difficult to participate in other groups. We will do all we can to accommodate such applications but in order to ensure the appropriate support is in place it is essential that you tell us well in advance if your child has additional help at school or has an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

How much does it cost?

To run Lighthouse Hazlemere costs £60 for each child. (which we think is fabulous value!).

Although we do not charge a set amount for children to attend, (as we do not want to deny any child a place) we do rely upon your donations and those of local churches, businesses and other generous benefactors so Lighthouse can continue each year.  Details of how you can support Lighthouse Hazlemere will be sent with tickets and you can look at our donations page. Donate here

We want to provide a great experience for your child. Please support us. Every donation, great or small, makes a difference. Thank you!

Only volunteers' children, grandchildren or volunteers’ younger siblings are guaranteed places. After this, places are given on a first come, first served basis. We will write to you in late June as soon as we have allocated places.
